We took a trip to Siesta Key Beach, Cape Coral yacht club, and Sanibel Island, Florida just to see what the situation really looks like. it is bad. the dead fish cover the beach and shore line. lots of work is being done to clean up, but the damage to the fisheries and tourism is done. The smell was over powering. it was difficult to not cough every couple of minutes. Melissa and I wore respirator because we knew we would be out all day in the Red Tide and Blue Green algae affected areas. It is hard to believe that the blue green algae plums could be prevented better water management systems for the run off from Lake Okeechobee. This is The Boat Life.
