This week we’re tackling what might be the biggest challenge of our project so far: designing the rudders for our Derek Kelsall catamaran. With just 6 weeks left on the hardstand and a budget that won’t stretch a day longer - the pressure is ON to get our rudders designed, built and fitted, fast. But here's the issue - just as we finalise our own design, we get sent the original Kelsall KSS 58 rudder plans, and they look NOTHING like what we’ve come up with. With our steering system already in place, it makes our rudder design choice the toughest decision of the entire project so far... stick with our instincts or trust the Kelsalls plans?
