We continue working on S/V Gone with the Wind. We begin on the exterior of the sailboat in the cockpit with primer and paint. Ashes rain from the sky, preventing us from painting. Shawn constructs a new instrument panel for the helm. Video uploads will now be every other Thursday. We are working really hard to finish up Gone with the Wind and want to prioritize getting her ready to sail. We will continue to document our journey and hope to return to weekly videos shortly. Alicante averages 3,000 hours of sunshine a year While October is one of the wetter months for Alicante, that’s still not very wet, and it rarely rains for long here. The average daytime temperature is 24C in October, but bring a jacket for the evening Race Village stroll as it cools off to 15C at night. Over and above anything else the start of the 2017-18 edition of the race is not to be missed as it marks the beginning of nine months of storms, speed, life-changing stories, stunning imagery and nail-biting finishes in an epic journey around the world.

It's all fun and games in the exotic Caribbean island of Dominica. In this episode we make the 36 hour sail from Grenada and arrive into a mountainous island covered in rain forest and dense, tropical jungle. The first thing we do is take a trip via rowboat up the enchanting Indian River where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 were filmed.
