Mytikas is een plek die ligt naast het eiland Lefkas, op het vaste land op een smalle landtong. We vonden het een bijzondere plek met alle gekleurde huizen op de landtong en zijn er even voor anker gegaan voor een lunch en ik heb de drone ook laten vliegen boven de landtong.

We spent a day off the boat, and Gibraltar turned out to be one of the strangest places we've been. You get there on foot by walking across the airport runway — an actual working runway, with a pedestrian crossing painted on it. Then through a tunnel cut into 300-year-old fortifications, and out onto a British high street with a Starbucks on it, in Spain, in 30 degrees. Up on the Rock there are wild monkeys that have decided the railings belong to them. Everyone tells you not to touch them. One of them climbed onto my shoulder and made the decision for me. They are, for the record, extremely soft. Also up there: St Michael's Cave, which is a cavern full of stalactites with a concert auditorium built inside it and a light show in purple. Fifty-two kilometres of tunnels the British dug into the Rock by hand, with the cannons still in them. And a glass viewing platform hanging over a 340-metre drop, which produced the biggest "oh hell no" of the trip so far. Next week we head north up the Atlantic coast toward Lisbon. Le Castella is een plaats in Zuid-Italie, in de provincie Calabria. We zijn dus nu op de 'zool' van de Italiaanse Laars. We vonden in Le Castella een prachtige ankerplek met uitzicht op dit vijftiende eeuwse kasteel. De enorme vesting lijkt recht uit zee omhoog te komen. Hij staat op een klein eilandje/rotsplateau dat door een smalle strook met het vasteland verbonden is. De verklaring voor de merkwaardige meervoudsvorm Le Castella is dat hier vroeger meerdere verdedigingswerken in dit gebied. Want wie hier woonde, moest zich voortdurend kunnen verdedigen tegen aanvallen vanaf zee!

7 Beaufort, bis zu 1,5 Meter Welle und zwei Erwachsene auf einer gerade einmal 3,94 Meter langen Topaz Magno. Was als sportlicher Segeltörn vor Kiel-Schilksee auf der Ostsee beginnt, wird für uns schnell zum echten Grenzgang. Auf Raumwindkurs macht die kleine Jolle zunächst richtig Spaß: Sie geht in Gleitfahrt, flitzt über die Wellen und zeigt, wie viel Geschwindigkeit in so einem kleinen Boot steckt. Doch die Bedingungen sind für uns zunehmend anspruchsvoll. Heftige Böen erwischen uns, das Heck bricht bei mehreren Spinouts aus und wir landen immer wieder im Wasser. Nach zahlreichen Kenterungen wird das Aufrichten schließlich zum eigentlichen Problem. Selbst wenn wir die Jolle wieder aufgerichtet bekommen, drückt der starke Wind sie teilweise sofort wieder um. Die nasse Jolle ist schwer zu halten und das Einsteigen wird bei Wind und Welle immer schwieriger. Und dann wird es wirklich ernst. Wir geraten in eine Legerwall-Situation. Wind und Wellen drücken uns zunehmend in Richtung der Steinpackung. Wenn die Jolle dort auf die Steine getrieben wird, könnte das schnell zu erheblichen Schäden führen. Wir sind zu diesem Zeitpunkt ziemlich allein auf der Ostsee und müssen die Situation selbst lösen. Mit viel Gewichtstrimm, mehreren Versuchen und ordentlich körperlichem Einsatz schaffen wir es schließlich, die Jolle wieder unter Kontrolle zu bekommen. Die Fock wird eingerollt und wir konzentrieren uns nur noch darauf, sicher in die Hafeneinfahrt von Kiel-Schilksee zu kommen. Nach knapp zwei Stunden, mehr als 10 Kenterungen und einigen ziemlich kritischen Momenten erreichen wir schließlich wieder ruhigeres Wasser. Das Ergebnis: Die Topaz Magno kommt unbeschädigt zurück in den Hafen – und wir haben definitiv einiges gelernt. 😅🌊 ## 📋 DIE BEDINGUNGEN 💨 Wind: 6 bis 7 Beaufort, böig und sehr wechselhaft 🌊 Welle: im Verlauf zunehmend, draußen bis zu ca. 1,5 Meter auflandige Welle ⛵ Boot: Topaz Magno – leichte Gleitjolle aus TRILAM-Polyethylen 📏 Maße: 3,94 m Länge | 1,56 m Breite | ca. 89 kg Rumpfgewicht 👥 Crew: 2 Erwachsene 📍 Revier: Kiel-Schilksee & Kieler Bucht Den Gennaker hatten wir zwar dabei, aber bei diesen Bedingungen blieb er aus Sicherheitsgründen komplett im Sack. Sie ist mit Großsegel, Fock und Gennaker ausgestattet und bietet bei passenden Bedingungen ordentlich Geschwindigkeit und Segelspaß. Bei 6 bis 7 Beaufort auf der Ostsee wird aus dem sportlichen Segeln mit einer kleinen Jolle allerdings schnell eine körperliche Herausforderung. Gerade beim Aufrichten nach einer Kenterung spielen Gewichtstrimm, Windrichtung und Wellen eine entscheidende Rolle. Sobald die Jolle voll Wasser ist, wird das Einsteigen und Stabilisieren noch einmal deutlich schwieriger. --- ## 🌊 DAS ENDE DES TÖRNS Nach mehr als 10 Kenterungen, mehreren Spinouts, starken Böen und einer zunehmend kritischen Situation am Legerwall schaffen wir es schließlich zurück in den geschützten Hafen von Kiel-Schilksee. Die Jolle bleibt unbeschädigt – und wir kommen mit einer ziemlich nassen, aber lehrreichen Erfahrung davon. Für uns war es definitiv ein Abenteuer für Erwachsene. 😄🌊
