Portanto, O MAIS IMPORTANTE, quero agradecer a todos que compartilharam essa expedição comigo, seja os novos amigos que fiz no caminho, familiares, aqueles que acompanham pelas redes sociais e pelo rastreador satelital, para mim todos empenharam um papel essencial para essa viagem ter sido concluída. O tempo mais precioso não foi só durante as navegações com a vela içada com vento calmo e o barco deslizando sobre as aguas, explorando os caminhos desconhecidos, foi também o enfrentamento das adversidades, problemas como o mau tempo, com motor, eeeeee só... não da pra dizer que teve outros problemas porque todo o restante foi uma maravilha, (depois que passa o perrengue é fácil falar rs :-) ). Foram 7 meses que eu e Ventão ficamos "fora de casa", ainda assim em todos os lugares fomos muito bem recebidos e fico feliz de relembrar esses momentos vividos e experiências compartilhadas com outros navegadores e entusiastas. Ao mesmo tempo que gostaria de citar os nomes de todos que fizeram parte dessa história eu me recuso, primeiro porque poderia comentar um volume de coisas referente a cada um e também porque não quero cometer a gafe de esquecer de citar alguém, que por mais corriqueiros ou pareçam insignificantes, para mim foi muito significante. Seja uma mensagem "estou lhe acompanhando pelo spot", seja por apreciar o simples fato de eu estar compartilhando a história, seja pelos churrascos e comemorações, um casaco emprestado, costurando o bimini, uma dica de passagem, um sorriso alegre e um aceno quando chegamos ao porto, por fornecer endereço para receber encomendas, um agradecimento por ajudar a flutuar uma lancha ou amarrar um veleiro no píer, ou por levar para passear e conhecer essa maravilha que é navegar, todas essas experiências foram muito boas.

Pedro Fernandes de Queirós, navegador português, em 1606 foi o inventor da palavra Austrália e o primeiro europeu a chegar a Vanuatu, no Pacífico Sul. Dois feitos que se cruzam por acaso. Vanuatu, país independente desde 1980, antes chamado Novas Hébridas, foi visitado primeiramente pelo navegador português Pedro Fernandes de Queiroz em 1606, que ao chegar à ilha de Espírito Santo acreditou estar na Austrália, assim inventando o nome do maior país da Oceânia. Foi também ele o primeiro europeu a contactar com as tribos melanésias locais de #Vanuatu. Ao chegar à ilha vindo de oeste e sendo já esperada uma grande terra no hemisfério austral, antes descoberta pelo lado este e norte por expedições portuguesas, ele nomeou a ilha como Austrialia do Espírito Santo. Na época a dinastia filipina em Portugal e Espanha era dos Habsburgo, da Áustria, assim também homenageando a coroa vigente. Hoje em dia existem duas estátuas dele em Sydney e Camberra, e a maior ilha de Vanuatu é chamada Espiritu Santo, em sua homenagem. This week aboard GOAT 2.0, we dive head-first into the challenge of understanding and trusting our new B&G navigation system. Even though the setup includes some of the best gear B&G offers — the Zeus S3 multifunction display, Halo 24 radar, and NAC-3 autopilot computer — things just don’t feel quite right compared to our old Furuno system. I spend the entire week trying to configure, test, and sail with this technology, only to keep wondering: is newer really better? ⚙️ OUR CURRENT B&G SETUP B&G Zeus S3 Multifunction Display The Zeus S3 is B&G’s flagship sailing chartplotter, designed to integrate navigation, radar, autopilot, and sailing data on one screen. Tech Highlights: Ultra-bright SolarMAX HD touch display (9", 12" or 16") Quad-core processor for ultra-fast chart rendering Pre-loaded C-MAP DISCOVER™ charts Dedicated sailing features: laylines, wind plot, polar data, race panel NMEA2000 & Ethernet networking Even with all these specs, I find the software sluggish and unintuitive compared to the precision and simplicity of Furuno’s TZ Touch 3. B&G Halo 24 Pulse-Compression Radar The Halo 24 is B&G’s short-to-medium range radar designed for instant startup and 360° scans every second. Tech Highlights: 24-inch solid-state dome Pulse-compression for close- and long-range detection (6 m – 48 nm) InstantOn™ mode for quick activation VelocityTrack™ Doppler target-speed tracking Dual-range mode for simultaneous near/far targets Despite its power, the user interface feels clunky compared to Furuno’s clean overlay and target-acquisition logic, making me doubt its reliability when things get rough. B&G NAC-3 Autopilot Computer This is the brain of the system — a heavy-duty autopilot computer designed for large yachts. Tech Highlights: Drives systems up to 30,000 kg (66,000 lbs) Fully integrated with B&G helm displays and Triton² instruments Steering algorithms tuned for sailing performance NMEA2000 network compatible It’s a powerful machine, but the tuning feels overly sensitive and unpredictable, something that doesn’t inspire confidence offshore. 🐟 THE BRIGHT SIDE Amid all the tech frustration, the ocean gave us an incredible moment: we caught a 20 kg bacoreta tuna! It was our biggest catch yet — enough to fill the freezer and our hearts after a long week of debugging electronics. So, while B&G keeps testing my patience, the sea keeps rewarding it. You will never believe this ... We still don't and we lived it. We did not see the the UFO's or the ghost orb at the time of filming. There were three of us there and we were all looking the same direction and no one heard or saw a thing. The first time the UFO fly's by the wave noise is slightly louder in the original footage. However, the 2nd time the UFO came by, it was closer to us based on the cloud as a backdrop and the waves were at their lowest decibel in the moment and there is no noise, no lights, and they were not visible with the naked eye. While I did not slow the orb down and freeze frame the footage like I did for the UFO's, it was very compelling to say the least. The third object is believed to be a bug that crosses over the "Pillbox Sunrise" picture. The UFO and orb is still a mystery to us. Let us know what you think in the comments! First day toying with an rc sailboat. Model Playstem (or playsteam) Voyager 280. Very gusty afternoon, impossible to have even a single leg of a course. I'd say the ideal windspeed is about 5m/s or 9-10 knots Anyway really fun! For me this is the first time ever controlling any sail. Waterproofing the hatch is a must. I heard some people put closed cell foam inside. I just made a gasket out of a thin stripe of EVA foam sheet. It worked like a charm.
