In this episode we show you how to use the Cuban yoyo reel that we made back in Episode 37 ……… Unfortunately we didn't catch a fish this time.... but we will at some point. Here's a link to the episode where we show how to make the reel. https://youtu.be/G9_1U7TAKe4 If you want to binge watch here is a link to our first season playlist 2023 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTnjHpfUuECUAA8rwRSxxMvqq9EMx_MR8 and our 2024/25 season one is here, https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTnjHpfUuECW7zdkJqoO7suNGfxh8lHRc Hi All, Welcome to our channel, We are Andrew and Irene a middle aged (well not sure what age range that encompasses nowadays ) couple pursuing an adventure on the high seas. We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard). Thanks for taking an interest and please remember to leave a like, comment and subscribe to our channel, as this helps push the algorithm as we strive to boost our viewers. Our Hawaii cruise started with two days on Oʻahu — and it set the tone for the whole trip. Day one was the travel day, followed by an afternoon at Waikiki Beach and a visit to Pearl Harbor. If you haven't been to the memorial before, it's worth giving yourself more time than you think you'll need — it stays with you. Day two took us to Kualoa Ranch on the windward coast. It's a working cattle ranch that also happens to be one of the most recognisable film locations in the world — Jurassic Park fans will know exactly why. We'd heard good things and it didn't disappoint. This is part one of our full Hawaii cruise series aboard Pride of America. If you're planning a similar trip, hopefully this gives you a useful sense of what the first couple of days can look like. 🔔 Subscribe for the rest of the series — Maui, the Big Island, and Kauaʻi still to come.
This cruise took us on a journey through some of Indonesia’s most beautiful regions: from Ambon’s muck diving and rare critters, through the historic Banda Islands and the underwater landscapes of the Banda Sea, to the vibrant reefs of Misool and Raja Ampat. A voyage shaped by discovery, natural beauty, and memorable moments above and below the surface. #rajaampat #bandaneira #misool #luxuryliveaboard #dewinusantara #muckdiving
► We meet at Port des Minimes in La Rochelle; on pontoon 20, one of the berths reserved for multihulls, I quickly spot the grey hulls and orange UV strip before being welcomed aboard by the skipper. ► Éric Pilato, 62, was born in La Rochelle and, entrepreneur though he was - and still is - he has always lived by the sea. Today, freshly graduated with a 200 GT Master’s certificate obtained in Belgium and Marseille, he operates - and enjoys - his Excess 11. ► “I wanted to buy a second-hand sailboat. My wife told me: ‘I’m warning you, if you don’t buy a catamaran, I’m not coming aboard.’ So, a multihull it would be… Eventually I came across Excess 11 #151, one of the last models equipped with the self-tacking jib, which was due to be displayed at the 2023 Grand Pavois boat show. It was a three-cabin version whose layout suited me perfectly. I asked Christopher, the dealer, whether the catamaran was available for sale. The answer was yes, so I bought it and was quickly able to secure the marina berth I had already applied for a few years earlier. Today, I operate the catamaran and have built a relationship with the brand’s management team, first as a contributing owner and then as a brand ambassador. One day - I’m not really sure why - I asked Thibaut (de Montvalon, Excess Managing Director, editor’s note) whether anyone had ever completed a solo Atlantic crossing aboard an Excess 11. He told me that, to his knowledge, no one had…” ► Éric, who has had the opportunity to sail aboard the Ultim trimaran Sodebo, therefore decided to embark on his own Route du Rhum. He will leave La Rochelle just after the 2026 Grand Pavois and sail directly to Pointe-à-Pitre, joining the race fleet that will depart Saint-Malo three weeks later - with the aim of arriving at roughly the same time. ► The skipper has also decided to establish a true passage time by not using his engines: a genuine solo, non-stop sailing transatlantic crossing. ► Preparations for Skiboo 2 and her skipper are already underway — solo training sessions, catamaran optimisation… Multihulls World will of course be following this adventure for you! ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► The ORC yard presents its first new model since it was taken over by Grand Large Yachting in 2023. ► The ORC 52.2 keeps the excellent foundation of the 50 while offering an interior redesigned and refined by Franck Darnet Design. “We got an extra 200 kg, not any more,” jokes Antoine Gicquel, project manager at the firm. At the same time, the use of carbon bulkheads in series has helped keep the weight estimate at 10.5 t. We discover brighter, clearer layouts (many openings have been added and/or enlarged) and far more careful finishing - overall, it is undeniably more welcoming. The sail plan has remained faithful to that of the 50, which translates into unchanged speed potential. With 15 knots of wind during our downwind run off Groix, the 52.2 #1 sold to a couple of Americans managed an average of 8.5 knots upwind (55° from the actual wind). Under gennaker, we even reached 14.5 knots at 120° from the actual wind - enough to shorten the oceans, isn’t it? ► Technical Specifications: Builder : ORC Catamarans Architects : Barreau/Neuman Design : Franck Darnet Design Length : 51'12'' (15.84 m) Beam : 26'11'' (8.2 m) Displacement : 23,149 lb (10.5 t) Draft : 4'7’'/9'4'' (1.4/2.85 m) Air draft : 73'2'' (22.3 m) Main sail : 942 sq ft (87.6 m²) Solent : 764 sq ft (71 m²) Powertrain : 2 x 40 HP Fuel : 2 x 30.4 US gal (2 x 115 l) CE Category : A12/B12/C16/D16 ► www.ocean-rider-catamarans.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Today at SCIBS 2026, PG caught up with Alan Steber of Steber International, one of the true pioneers of the Australian marine industry and one of Gineico’s longest-standing clients. From the early days of Alan purchasing products from PG’s father in Frenchs Forest, to decades of innovation in Australian boatbuilding, relationships like this are what our industry is built on. Quality products matter. But so do trust, service and long-term partnerships. ► The 37th edition of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show lived up to expectations from May 21 to 24. With 300 exhibitors, 800 boats, 2,500 marine-related products, and no fewer than 50,000 visitors, the event has firmly established itself as Australia’s largest boat show. ► Although the island continent is home to only 26 million inhabitants - barely 8% of the population of the United States - it nevertheless boasts a large community of sailing enthusiasts. Recreational boatbuilders are also very well established there. ► Kevin Green, our Australian correspondent, attended the show on our behalf and, of course, visited the multihulls on display, including the Australian-built Mahi and Voyager models. Numerous Asian-based brands were also present, such as Cure Marine, HH, Iliad, and Seawind. As for the major players like Aquila, Excess, Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, and Robertson & Caine, they certainly did not miss this event, which has become a must-attend show. ► www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Bem-vindo a Por Trás da Máquina. A websérie que vai te mostrar o que ninguém vê da maior regata oceânica da América Latina — a Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela. No primeiro episódio, Leo Soldo abre as escotilhas do Kaluanã e te convida pra entrar. E do Kaluanã. - 📅 SIVI 53 — 24 de julho a 1º de agosto de 2026 📍 Ilhabela, São Paulo — Brasil 🌐 sivilhabela.com.br https://www.instagram.com/sivilhabela/ #SIVI53 #PorTrásDaMáquina #SemanaDeVela #Ilhabela #VelaOceânica #Corona #Kaluanã #WebSérie #Vela
► Founded just five years ago, the Astus Boat Club association now brings together around 60 Astus trimaran owners and has recently introduced a Trophy system rewarding participation and results in various regattas open to multihulls rated under the Multi 2000 rule. ► In this context, Pierre Breban, president of the association, invited me to take part as media crewman aboard the Golfe Morbihan Tour, an event particularly technical when it comes to current management. Currents can be extremely strong in this area, while numerous counter-currents can be found close to beaches, headlands, and rocks. ► So I joined Jean-Hubert Pommois, head of the shipyard, aboard his Astus 26.5, together with Jérôme, our helmsman. Organized by the SRV (Société des Régates de Vannes), this regatta is unique in that it brings together highly diverse fleets: classic rigs, foiling boards, monohull cruisers, dinghies, and of course cruising multihulls - 63 entries in total! ► Six Astus boats were entered in the cruising multihull category: four Astus 20.5s, one older-generation Astus 22, in addition to our Astus 26.5. The course had to be shortened slightly due to a rather light easterly breeze, but we had a fantastic time and even managed to secure a podium finish! ► www.astusboatsclub.eu ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
