Sailing Indonesia, Anambas Islands sailing, navigating shallow reefs, boat life vlog, sailing family Liveaboard sailboat life, reef navigation sailing, sailing without charts, cruising Southeast Asia, off grid island life Sailing through the Anambas Islands in Indonesia comes with incredible beauty—and real challenges. In this episode, we navigate shallow reefs, explore remote islands, and experience true liveaboard sailboat life. After exploring Moonrock Bay and EcoSymbiosis in our previous episode, we continue our journey through Anambas, slowing down to enjoy the raw beauty of island life. From crystal-clear waters to vibrant coral reefs, this is what sailing Indonesia is all about. We spend the day diving and snorkeling in untouched reefs, while Gaurav takes on freediving lessons with Aaron from SV Moyana. What started as a chance meeting has now turned into family at sea, making this journey even more special. But sailing in Indonesia isn’t easy. While navigating from Moonrock Bay to Terampa, we face a sudden mainsail issue when the clew pin breaks mid-sail. Out here, in remote waters, there’s no quick fix—you rely on your skills and teamwork. Navigating shallow reefs in Indonesia is one of the biggest challenges for sailors. With outdated charts and unpredictable depths, we often sail using Google Maps and visual navigation—with Vaidehi guiding from the bow to safely pass through reef-filled waters. Back in Terampa, the reality of boat life kicks in—boat repairs, daily chores, and managing essentials. With no washing machine onboard, we hand over a month’s laundry to a local service, adapting to life in remote island communities. This is off-grid sailing life—unfiltered, unpredictable, and deeply rewarding. 👉 Subscribe and follow our journey as we sail across the world, one island at a time. 📸 Instagram: @thereevaproject 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project #SailingIndonesia #AnambasIslands #BoatLife #Liveaboard #SailingFamily #ReefNavigation #Freediving #OceanLife #SlowTravel #TheReevaProject

What you’re watching is the unmolding process of a 46-foot center console hull, a defining moment in the life of every boat we build. After days of precise lamination, curing, and careful preparation, the hull is finally ready to separate from the mold. This step is not just about extraction — it’s about precision, patience, and craftsmanship. Every detail matters. Every surface tells a story of the hands behind it. Moments like this never get old. Because this is where a vision becomes something real. This is not just boatbuilding. This is manufacturing at a high level. Welcome to the process.

In this episode of the Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States podcast, hosts Bela Musits and Mike Wasserman sit down with a true legend of the modern sailing era: David Southwell. David recently made headlines by taking first place in the 2024 OSTAR (Original Single-handed Transatlantic Race), one of the most grueling and prestigious solo races in the world. Sailing across the North Atlantic is never a simple feat, but doing it in the month of May means battling unpredictable weather patterns and contrary winds. As Bela notes, it is often considered the "wrong way" and the "wrong time" to be out there, yet that is exactly what the OSTAR demands. David shares the fascinating history of the race, which began in 1960 as a half-crown bet between sailing icons Francis Chichester and Blondie Hassler. From his childhood dreams inspired by Robin Knox-Johnston to his rigorous training in the Bermuda One-Two, David discusses the mental and physical preparation required to win a solo transatlantic race. Whether you are a weekend cruiser or an aspiring ocean racer, this conversation offers invaluable insights into the discipline and "moxie" needed to conquer the open sea alone. Key Takeaways & Highlights The History of OSTAR: Discover how a simple bet in 1960 birthed the original single-handed transatlantic race. The "Wrong Way" Across the Atlantic: Why racing from East to West in May is one of the toughest challenges a sailor can face. American Excellence: David joins an elite list of Americans (including Phil Weld) to ever win this historically French-dominated race. Solo vs. Crewed Racing: Mike and David break down the radical difference between managing a boat with a team versus being the only soul on deck for weeks. Training for Greatness: Insights into using the Bermuda One-Two as a stepping stone for world-class ocean racing. Episode Chapters 00:00 – Intro: Sailing and Cruising the East Coast with Bela Musits & Mike Wasserman. 01:03 – The challenge of crossing the North Atlantic in May. 02:18 – Solo vs. Crewed: The reality of long-distance racing. 03:00 – Welcome David Southwell: The 2024 OSTAR Winner. 04:00 – The origins of OSTAR: Francis Chichester and the 1960 bet. 04:30 – French dominance in ocean racing and the story of "Moxy." 05:05 – Inspiration from Robin Knox-Johnston and the Golden Globe Race. 05:12 – Training grounds: The Bermuda One-Two from Newport to Bermuda. A auto-realização é o objectivo.
