So my new 12 volt duel sided fridge came in and let me tell you that it feels good to have a cold drink at the ready. Usually I drink room temp water most of the day and go to the store for at least one cold drink to have for dinner so this is living in luxury. I also bought a 26 inch tv that won’t use up to much power cause as you know I only have the two 100 watt solar panels up right now so my electricity is limited until I get the wind turbine up. (Which is soon I’m just waiting on the post) my dvd collection is coming along nicely as well…. I had never heard of this book before finding it here in the Mariner's Library but 'The Cruises of the Joan' seems to have attached a lot of very positive comments from contemporary literary critics & sailors alike when it was released. W.E.Sinclair has what commentators at the time refer to as  'a humble style in his approach to recording his voyages'. However, as his mileage increases with journeys throughout Scotland and round the British Isles, it becomes increasingly apparent that his delicately chosen prose is actually perfectly suited to allow even a reader 100 years hence to enter the story, share in the adventure and vicariously live through what promises to be some otherwise unbelievable adventures off the coasts of Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland later on in the book. The Clive Hand Memorial Race is held each year at LRSC for IOM Model Yachts and helps raise funds for the RNLI. Helms from all over the UK attend for a day of competetive racing on the lake at Scotland Farm, Lincoln, UK. Model yacht racing (often refered to as Radio Sailing) is a competitive form of yacht racing run along similar lines to dinghy racing and keelboat racing. Different classes of model yacht are raced, these range from inexpensive mass produced yachts to expensive craftsman made boats. Model yacht racing is a sport in which small sailboats generally under one metre in length are raced against each other in a controlled environment such as a pond, lake, or indoor swimming pool. The only method of propulsion is the wind on the sails. Electronic radio controled winches are used to trim the sails and steer the yachts.
