From 27 to 29 June, the Fountaine Pajot Open Days took place in La Rochelle, giving us the opportunity to meet Viktor, the happy new owner of an Isla 40 catamaran. We retraced his journey as a keen sailor, from his first two monohulls to the decision to buy an Isla 40. He shares with us his love of the catamaran's elegant design, comfort and excellent performance under sail. He also talks about his family project aboard the boat, his dream destination, and offers some advice to future owners.

This is Episode 42 of our adventure. After days of prep Hugh can finally start work on the top coats for our non slip deck. He spends time masking it with beautiful rounds and corners and then applies an epoxy paint and a thick layer of sand. 24hrs later he was able to blow away the sand and paint another 3 coats before applying a lacquer to seal and protect it. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Follow our adventures. Leave us a comment, watch our other videos, join our Facebook page, become part of our journey. https://www.facebook.com/fivegosailing https://www.instagram.com/fivegosailing

The boat is still leaking at the starboard bollard so I change the butyltape to some sikaflex 291i so it can be complete watertight by the two screws. After the little operation in starboard side I start to pull off the port bollard and gets stunned over a giant hole I find in the side of the boat, clearly here where the water has bled into the cabin. I fill the hole with some epoxy and cover the area with a layer of sikaflex 291i. In starboard side I will like to drill some holes but my Dewalt drilling machine is to long so I can't drill a straight hole. The solution to that is to buy a cheap shorter Biltema CD108B drilling machine so it can fit below the railing.

How to clean the Bottom of a Sailboat with a hookah, along with a DIY Propspeed review of Sea Breathe , and the Best chain hook which we have concluded is a Mantus Chain Hook! - Patrick Childress Sailing Tips and Sailing Videos #12 ....A hookah or Sea Breathe for boat work is absolutely necessary equipment for a cruising sailboat.....It can take hours to clean the bottom of a sailboat hull to get ready to sail on ecspecially without the best propeller paint like Oceanmax propspeed with extra foul release which we applied DIY in Malaysia in 2017. 2019..it’s still working great. This sailboat video specifically covers how to clean a sail boat hull underwater. More speed...with less fuel! Is their saying...we like that! Bottom painting a propeller requires the best propeller paint, and a good snuba or hookah unit like the Sea Breathe unit we have on sailboat Brick House. My personal opinion of Propspeed from Oceanmax, Sea Breathe hookah/snuba, is that it’s one of the tools on a sailboat every sailor must have. Also, we have found that the Mantus chain hooks are the best chain hook for sailboat, after trying a number of other chain hooks over the years. Propspeed made cleaning the sailboat prop a non event. We haven’t figured out how to keep the bottom of the boat clean yet, besides scrubbing it every few weeks with the Sea Breathe hookah. At least with Propspeed, the propeller stays free from barnacles and growth, even if the bottom becomes fouled quite quickly. Cleaning ablative bottom paint can even be fun with a hookah and a boat bottom scraper, but someday we hope to find something that works. CoppercCoat is a bit too expensive for us, but we hope when our budget fees up a little bit more, that perhaps we can do a Coppercoat DIY application. I believe they do not allow this, but we are hoping to one day we can find a way to get ourselves a batch and do a “How To Apply Coppercoat yourself” video! That would save the money it costs to have it done professionally, and nobody is more concerned about doing it properly than the boatowner himself! In this episode, we drop the hook and anchor overnight at Island White, Long Beach, California. Island White is one of the THUMS oil islands named after a dead astronauts. We set anchor in just a little over 40 feet of water. While returning the next day, I have a brief grey whale sighting inside the harbor. However, I missed getting it on video. As you can see here, we're just mounted in the engine room, to the stern of the boat, behind the motors!!
