In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we check out the ancient myths and natural wonders of the eternal flames burning at Yanartaş in the Olympos National Park in Turkey and ask the question why is this rock on fire? The answer to why is this rock on fire is that natural gas burns from many vents on the side of the mountain. It is thought to be the location of ancient Mount Chimaera. This is the largest venting of abiogenic methane on Earth's surface and has been burning for over 2500 years. The flames were used in ancient times as a navigation beacon by sailors. #multihull #multihullsailing #sailingvideos Sailing to New Zealand can be a worry for many sailors - this is our 2nd trip there from New Caledonia and some social media folks asked me to please share a few details about our passage. We have a number of deep low and high high pressure systems around as well as convergence which brings on rain and thunderstorms, however convergence between the systems also allows us a more direct route to New Zealand which otherwise usually means sailing a semi circle that leads towards Australia before heading for New Zealand. We make use of several weather programs, our Polars set up of for the boat as well as our beautiful B&G radar with Doppler technology to see which way systems are moving. The engine is loosing coolant and it seems like the leak is by the coolant pressure cap. In this video I also clean the water strainer by the fresh water pump and by the shower drain pump.

We love our boat but after two months on board it's time to stretch the legs.. we find a beautiful island but instead of enjoying the tranquility though we take the opportunity of stable ground to work up a sweat..
