(dal libro Coerenza, un nuovo vocabolo nella politica) Il "mio" MoVimento. Sono un attivista delle primissime ore. Uno dei pochi rimasti, perché il MoVimento è fluido, ognuno dà per quello che può dare e per il tempo che gli è consentito dai suoi impegni, e poi la vita continua in un flusso di energia che contamina, si ricambia e genera nuova energia. Entrai con esitazione in una fredda sera di Gennaio del 2006 all'Associazione Culturale "La Scheggia", in zona viale Monza. Cercavo qualcosa che ancora non sapevo spiegarmi. Entrai con la pesantezza e il malumore che ormai da un po' mi accompagnavano. Mi ero sempre tenuto alla larga dalle sezioni di partito, così gerarchiche, così inquadrate nel modo di ragionare e quel linguaggio che alle mie orecchie era sempre suonato falso e anacronistico. Eppure qualcosa mi spinse a entrare in quel luogo che percepivo d'incontro e partecipazione. Ne uscii già dalla prima sera con un sollievo interno, un senso di leggerezza. Il clima era, disinvolto e autentico, le persone diversissime tra loro e con età variabili ma entusiaste di essere lì. Il "tu" era immediato, automatico. Da allora non abbandonai più... compresi che cercavo altre persone come me, non focalizzate su un solo tema, con volontà di spendere il proprio tempo libero per lottare per giuste cause, proteggere i diritti dei cittadini. Ho vissuto dentro il gruppo fin dai suoi inizi, facendone parte attiva quando ancora non se ne era neppure ancora coniato un nome, a parte il generico "Amici di Beppe Grillo"....

Financial Freedom Friday: Here's a video summarizing the changes in our budget from a house in Sacramento, to a condo on Oahu and now to a sailboat. In December 2015 we moved from Sacramento to Oahu and went from 2 incomes to one. In August 2016 we bought a sailboat and in October we became full-time liveaboards. We will start making monthly budget updates. Coming soon!

Happy Financial Freedom Friday We did pretty good this month. Really trying to keep the alcohol and grocery budget under control. We will see how we do this coming month. Pat got a really nice bonus from his job and we will also be getting his tax refund. We will get a chance to make an extra payment towards the boat and also get some fun things for ourselves and the boat. I am also hoping to get a couple part time jobs. We will see how that goes. I forgot it was Easter Monday..... In New Zealand, they take a holiday seriously and NOTHING was open. The boatyard was not even open and almost no one was working on their boat. Without safety equipment and supplies sanding the hull was not going to happen. So I decided to embrace the holiday and have a fun day with the kids! The core of "Family Circus" is Chris (Dad / Captain), Sayo (Mom / Admiral), Aya (First Officer / Deckhand) and Miya (Baby / Stainless Polisher). After many years in business in Vancouver we were tired of life inside the box and wanted to make a change, we just weren't exactly sure what would be next. In July of 2016, when Sayo was six months pregnant, we decided (somewhat at the last minute) to fly to New Caledonia for one last holiday before the baby was born. On Friday 14th September we headed to Manly Sailing Club where Turn the Tide on Plastic, Volvo Ocean Race sailor Bianca Cook was leading a beach clean up with Sustainable Coastlines. In just 15 minutes a huge pile of rubbish was collected from the beach, a true example of just how much junk is out there if you take a closer look. Well done to Manly Sailing Club on arranging the clean up! Now let's all do our part of help clean up our oceans and planet.
