The Meri Crew sails to Nova Scotia! We finish up our time in Maine with the Lobster Festival in Rockland then set sail across the Gulf of Maine and into the Labrador current, where the water, and the air, is cold. We spend some time in Shelburne and then sail up the coast to Lunenburg, taking in a county fair, Canadian style, as well as a music festival. On our way back to the US we sail through lots and lots of fog.

Arriving into the #pensacolashipyard we were welcomed by a big heart full of tears of excitement as he witnessed the hard work he has done over the past couple months get placed back into the water after 15 years on the hard! We are so proud of all your hard work and thank you for sharing this beautiful moment with us. The tradition of christening a new ship for good luck and safe travel goes way back. Many ancient seafaring societies had their own ceremonies for launching a new ship. The Greeks wore olive branch wreaths around their heads, drank wine to honor the gods, and poured water on the new boat to bless it. The Babylonians sacrificed an ox, the Turks sacrificed a sheep, and the Vikings and Tahitians offered up human blood. These events almost always had a religious tone to them, and the name of a favored god or god of the seas was often invoked. In the Middle Ages, two friars would often board British ships before their maiden voyage to pray, lay their hands on the masts and sprinkle holy water on the deck and bow.

We saw rays, sharks, whales, sea turtles, dolphins and blended up alot of jelly fish. hallucinations tired at sea for days and in need of a break due to the constant storms and blow outs. Beautiful scenery and a vibrant aquatic life due to the covid situation. There was still trash and massive trees floating around in the ocean have to keep a look out. lot's of fishing nets and crab pots everywhere and adrift.

In this episode Josh and I are installing TEMPO in preparation for the annual Holiday market. ==================================================== Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5  type guy anymore.  I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. We had a long, cold winter 2020/2021. In between storms, snow &, hail we had also some nice days, so we went for a bikeride around “t Twiske”. Or at some nice days, we can prepare our girl for some sailing again. So we took her winter jacket of and put her sails up again. On the cold wet days, we had enough work to do inside.
