Unweit der Kuang Si Waterfalls hat sich ein Niederländer mit seiner Frau einen paradiesischen Platz in einem kleinen laotischen Dorf geschaffen: die Butterfly Farm. Nicht nur das Schmetterlingshaus sondern das gesamte Grundstück wurde mit unglaublich viel Kreativität und Liebe zum Detail geschaffen. Somit genossen wir die Nachmittagsstunden sehr! Am meisten begeisterten uns die handflächengroßen Schmetterlingsarten und der Dead Leaf Schmetterling, welcher von außen wie ein abgestorbenes Blatt aussah. Sobald dieser jedoch seine Flügel öffnete, offenbarten sich seine wundervolle Farben. Das niederländische Paar hatte wirklich an Alles gedacht: wir konnten uns im Schmetterlingshaus auf zwei Stühle setzen, Schmetterlinge um unsere Köpfe kreisen lassen während Knabberfischchen unsere Füße im Wasser bearbeiteten. Herrlich! Auch den Kaffee mit dem Inhaber sollte man sich nach dem Schmetterlingshaus nicht entgehen lassen. Mit besonderem Humor kann er Geschichten aus seiner Reisezeit erzählen und ein Fotobuch zu seiner Bauphase der Butterfly Farm vorzeigen. Gleichzeitig unterstützt man mit seinem Besuch noch ein Bildungsprojekt, denn das niederländische Paar bietet Kindern der Region Naturschutz und Biologie Unterricht an.
