This video takes us from our overnight anchorage off Tavernier Creek east to the Baker Cut off Key Largo on the Florida Bay side. We got a late start but enjoyed the great morning and did some swimming. We did motor over to the Toilet Seat Cut before continuing our sail east on the inside passage.

Newbie wannabe pirates invest in a few boats, we have a Mirror Dinghy, Bruce Roberts 34, Top Hat 25 Mk1, Timber Hull 23 Alan Rice, and a 14 foot Catamaran which we are repairing, sailing around going on adventures. While visiting Lake Michigan's Green Bay, we sailed south to Fish Creek, Door County, Wisconsin, to meet up with some Danish friends. Door County is a vibrant tourist destination with a visible Scandinavian twist, which is often referred to as the Cape Cod of the Midwest. It's named after the Porte des Morts Passage at the top of the 80-mile (129 km) long peninsula. Porte des Morts translates from French to Death's Door, and its name is generally thought to be a centuries-old warning to mariners trying to enter Green Bay from the open Lake Michigan. After meeting up with our friends at Fish Creek, we took Freelance up through the Strawberry Channel and north of Washington Island to the Point Detour Bay anchorage. Other friends — our buddy-boats Jubilee, Annie B. Stone, and the Moku Hale — were already anchored there. Other sailors in this atoll were struck by lightning just months ago, so we knew the risks were real. Once the storm cleared, we scrambled to check on our friends, reconnect with nearby boats, and prepare for an exciting moment—Brioni’s parents finally arrived! With all the preparations having to be done to our beloved Wake (not to mention to us) before heading out into the wild blue to chase that eclipse, going far and going free is not in the cards quite yet....so I thought back on our inaugural sail home back in February, from Mallorca to Italy, and the three separate pods of dolphins that kept up with us for hours, dancing on the surface of the water. Light winds made for constant sail changes on our Atlantic crossing — until squalls rolled in and it was all hands on deck. From spinnaker jibes to battling a stubborn sock, we worked hard to keep moving, with Brodie proving his strength on the heavy lifts. Along the way, we hauled in a barracouta on the handline (which Chui was quick to inspect, licking his lips) and spotted countless floating shortfin squid — a sobering sign of the bycatch left behind by enormous Chinese fishing fleets.
