Well, The Keppel Islands, specifically Great Keppel Island is definitely at the top of the list! Great Keppel Island has some of the most amazing coral and marine life on The Great Barrier Reef that we have seen so far. Just off of Monkey Beach on Great Keppel Island is an absolute hot spot for blue staghorn coral, dozens of fish and is a great place to see green sea turtles on the Great Barrier Reef! Australia is famous for its amazing Great Barrier Reef and the bright coral and sealife that comes with it. Unfortunately much of our beautiful reef has been affected by the Great Barrier Reef bleaching and you can see some bleaching of the reef in this video. Although, thankfully the Keppel Islands have not been as detrimentally affected by the Great Barrier Reef bleaching as other parts of the Great Barrier Reef like up in the Whitsundays. There are still lots of Great Keppel Island snorkeling tours going out at all times of the day to see the reef, but there's nothing like snorkeling on your own schedule for hours on end! Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Von unserem Liegeplatz an Steg 12 in Heiligenhafen sind es 200 m bis zum Strand und nur ein paar Minuten bis zu den Häusern und dem Naturschutzgebiet. Der Graswarder sind nicht nur die wunderschönen Häuser aus der 19er Jahrhundertwende. Das Besondere ist das Naturschutzgebiet mit der Ausgleichsküste und den Nehrungshaken. Geschulte Naturschutzwarte bieten von Ostern bis Ende Oktober täglich ab 10:30 Uhr Kurzvorträge und Wanderungen in das Schutzgebiet an. Vom 1. Juni bis 31. August gibt es täglich um 15:00 Uhr eine zweite Führung. Treffpunkt ist die Nabu-Hütte. Der Beobachtungsturm ist das ganze Jahr über geöffnet. Der Skipper und Youtuber bietet ab Heiligenhafen Mitsegeltörns an. vom Wasser ist die Sicht auf das Graswarder ganz besonders.
