As I mentioned in a previous episode I have had to postpone my solo crossing of the North Pacific for one year because the boat and I are not ready. I was looking into the option of sailing across with a Crew and spend the next year training on the West Coast of Canada and sail back to Japan Solo. But alas, the hoops I had to jump through became too difficult given the short timeline. ( June is the recommended month to leave Japan waters for North American) So it's decided I will continue my training here in Japanese Waters and will spend the next several months exploring Japan's waters and a myriad of islands, beaches, and harbors. Hugh has become comfortable with taking bulkheads out and putting them in so in this episode he reveals his final designs for the bow cabin and rebuilds it. We have gone from 2 cabins, a corridor and a small head, to three cabins, a larger head with shower and a child sized snug. This episode also gives Hugh the chance to show you how to use a spirit level on a boat! We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. Some of the highlights of our last Cenderawasih Bay scuba diving adventure trip onboard Calico Jack Charters. Join us on an incredible adventure that takes us diving with Whale Sharks and exploring World War 2 wrecks. This amazing part of the world is the centre of the coral triangle and the largest marine national park in Indonesia. Whale Sharks underneath Bagans (Fishing Platforms) at Kwatisore, Cendrawasih Bay, Indonesia Indonesia’s Cenderawasih Bay has become increasingly famous as a dive destination over the last couple of years thanks to the possibility of spectacular encounters with whale sharks. Appearing en masse at the floating bagans, or fishing platforms, the whale sharks love to feed on the tiny fish caught in the fishermen’s nets suspended below the bagan. If the whale sharks are the major draw to Cenderawasih, the handful of liveaboards heading to the region has opened up speculation about what else might be in the Bay. Already the other key attraction is the presence of several World War II era wrecks that are remarkably intact. Nearby to Manokwari there is the Japanese wreck Shinwa Maru with its eerie cargo of bottles still scattered in its holds, easily accessible as the wreck lies on its side. There’s also an unidentified US landing craft in shallow water, upside down and encrusted with coral and home to several curious batfish. The wreck at The Cross, so named for the Christian school located nearby, also has a still discernable hull suffused in soft and hard coral, especially at the gracefully curved stern. The area also has numerous superb dives , with pristine coral reefs and quite likely had never been dived before. Cenderawasih has an abundance of hard and soft corals which in the richest areas have grown into vast lettuce corals, huge staghorn patches, impressive table corals, and decades of encrusted colour and texture on walls, slopes and bommies.

An impromptu live as we leave on our first day on Flotilla. We had our sharpen up dinner last night in Trogir with all the crews. We're now three boats with the upcoming weather. Notes techniques : J’ai tenté de niveler les volumes du mieux que je le pouvais, mais c’est parfois un peu difficile avec le vent et le matériel que nous avons. Le son n’est pas optimal et nous en sommes tout à fait conscients. Cela dit, l’utilisation d’un bon casque d’écoute améliore l’expérience. Aussi, vous aurez peut-être remarqué la perte de qualité de quelques images. Ma plus grosse caméra équipée d’un zoom a un problème en mode film. Elle reste bloquée sur un faible ISO, ce qui assombrit énormément les images. J’ai éclairci les plus potables en postproduction, mais la perte de qualité est bien notable.
