Traversée des BVI vers la République dominicaine : la fenêtre météo est courte, du mauvais temps arrive. On dispose d'une fenêtre de 3 jours pour effectuer cette traversée avec peu de vent et on décide de mettre le moteur pour terminer au plus vite. Arrêt à la marina dans la baie de Samana pour effectuer les papiers d'entrée, et après discussion avec les autorités, nous constations qu'il faut une autorisation à chaque fois que l'on déplace le bateau, même pour 5 miles. Très beaux mouillages dans le parc situé dans la baie avec navigations en canoë dans les mangroves, visite de grottes.... Puis dernières courses dans la ville de Samana, animée et bruyante, et restaurant local. Départ pour Cuba après un bref séjour à Saint Domingue. Nous quittons Aruba pour rejoindre Carthagène en Colombie. Une traversée mythique… mais redoutée : celle de la péninsule de la Guajira, souvent surnommée le Cap Horn des Caraïbes. Les premières 24 heures sont parfaites, le bateau file à 8 nœuds de moyenne. Mais la deuxième nuit, tout bascule : un grain violent nous surprend à 22h, 45 nœuds par l’arrière, malgré notre retenue de bome, le choc et trop violent, ça casse, la bome fini son empannage et casse à son tour. On finira la traversée sous génois seul, avant d’atteindre Carthagène de nuit, fatigués mais heureux d’être arrivés.
