Sea Survival - Cold Water Survival It is one of my greatest fears. entering cold water in an uncontrolled manner and dying prematurely due to my lack of experience in such an environment. After making this podcast today I am forced to realize that just taking a weeks worth of cold water showers could-statistically- make me 50% more likely to be able to hold it together long enough for a vessel to change course, find me and save me.   Let's see if I am able to convince you of the same thing as we take this opportunity to talk facts about what it is to enter cold water off the side of a boat. Am 16. Aug 2024 kamen meine Jungs (& einer Freundin) um 9:10 Uhr in Skiathos an und wir legten direkt um um 10:30 Uhr ab und motorten zu der kleinen Insel Arkos, wo wir alle erst mal ins Wasser sprange, tauchten und frühstückten. Um 12 Uhr legten wir ab und konnten direkt mit 7 kn Speed nach Skopelos segeln. Wir segelten in die Tolle Bucht von Panormos, wo wir gut mit Lnadleine in grünem Wasser fest machten. Es war perfekt. Luis hat später noch gegrillt und wir haben diese tolle, ruhige Bucht richtig genossen. LEIDER VERÖFFENTLICHT YOUTUBE DIESES VIDEO NUR IN HD ??? SORRY DAFÜR 17.08.24: Gott sei dank, haben wir die Leinen noch nicht gelöst, als ich den Motor starten wollte und dieser nicht ansprang. Nur ein klacken war zu hören. Mein erster Gedanke war, dass vielleicht die Motorbatterie leer sein könnte bewahrheitete sich Gott sei dank. Luis fragte ein großes Elektroboot nebenan, ob er uns ein Überbrückungskabel leihen kann. Damit kamen wir weg. Dann blieben wir noch an dem einzigen Stein in der Bucht hängen. Der Anker löste sich nicht mal, obwohl ich gewaltsam drüber fuhr ... es war wie verhext ... Erst als Luis runter tauchte und er mich anwies, den Stein links weit zu umfahren, löste sich die Kette und wir waren frei. Es war kein Wind und damit motorten wir gemütlich nach Skopelos Hafen. Als der Tankwagen kam, bat ich um ein Überbrückungskabel. Er hatte keines, brachte mir aber Abends zuverlässig eines vorbei. Wir aßen dort lecker wieder in der guten Taverne und gingen danach noch in die tolle Bar mit Aussicht. Die Jungs paddelten sogar aus dem Hafen raus zu dem kleinen Strand ... 18.08.24 um 9:50 legten wir ab und motorten zu der berühmten Kapelle auf dem Felsen Agios Ioannis. Dort verbrachten wir Mittag und badeten. I talked my girlfriend (now my wife) and my 18 year old daughter into going skydiving for their very first time ... on my daughters 18th birthday! The birthday girl and I jumped first while Tisha watched in anxious excitement from the ground. In this video you will see Tisha get instruction from the Tandem Master minutes before we both jump. While I have jumped before, I have never jumped with my girlfriend OR my daughter ... I must say, it was pretty damn bad ass to have my girlfriend and TWO daughters there. If my youngest had been old enough at the time, you can bet that I would have tried to talk her into jumping as well! Maybe one day ... haha. Enjoy!
