In this sailing adventure, we check out our boat after the chaos of storms Dudley and Eunice, and narrowly dodge the arrival of storm Franklin! Watch as we explore marina dredging, spend a cozy night in the beautiful Beaulieu, and navigate through a surprise hailstorm on the way back. It's all part of the unpredictable fun that comes with sailing life. So... This time we go to plan B and visit Tropea for a few days, before we are finally ready to untie the lines and leave the marina where we've been stuck for way too long. This is the twenty-first episode of the second season of "She rules the waves", a series about the adventures, the upgrades, the maintenance of the perfect live aboard sailboat for a sailing musician. The captain might be telling the story, but Sedna, She Rules The Waves... #sailing #atlantic #atlanticocean #boatgalley #cooking #cooking-offshore #espada #sailboat This is a special episode where I attempt to do some more advanced cooking in the middle of the Atlantic. On this 4-day passage to the Azores I decided to cook Espada with passionfruitsauce, mashed potatoes and fried bananas. In this special episode I show you the whole process but if you are curios about the captains reaction eating it you should check out our ordinary episode 63. If you ever wondered how it is to cook in a small boat galley while being far off-shore then this video is for you. We call this Episode 63 B because I have cut out the cooking part from our regular episode 63 where our buddy boat get engine problems passage to the remote islands of Azores check-out the episode to see how it goes and find out our 4 lessons learnt. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Follow us on Noforeignland https://www.noforeignland.com/boat/fridaafwisby?sid=6095395836919808&tc=1674678682264 Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish natioal Soling sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

Time for us to make some money! Travel is expensive, even when you do it as cheaply as possible. Chris had an opportunity for a work trip in Chicago and we decided to capitalize on the winter months when we couldn't be sailing in Ontario. The idea is to make as much as we can so we can travel more comfortably for longer. Patreon: www.patreon.com/turtlecrossingtsailing Merch: www.turtlecrossing.ca Music: Epidemic Sound

We were encouraged to tape and share the performance from the first day of our cruise on the Carnival Valor by the director. We decided to put it into a separate video, as it's guaranteed that Youtube will not let us monetize it due to copyright restrictions, but we felt you would still enjoy the show! This one was taken from my cell phone, an Iphone 8, from the upper balcony. Apologies for the grainy footage. The next two performances will be from a better camera. Our Cruise Dates: January 28 - February 02, 2023 - On the Carnival Valor out of New Orleans. Visiting Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. _________________________________________________________________________ Want to buy us a beer? Or, buy us the drink of your choice at: paypal.me/NicholasDeLaat (we will feature it on a future episode!) Just a few bucks per month helps us go a long way in upkeep and upgrading equipment. Anchored by Point Lookout at the mouth of the Potomac River. We decided to go ashore to have a picnic and do a little exploring. Turns out this area is home to Fort Lincoln, an American Civil War site with the largest northern prison camp of the war. Only a shorty this one! I get the jib stick varnished and the new aluminium tubing arrives to help me complete the Spinnaker pole for my Drascombe Lugger.

Episode 033 Since moving onboard our sailing boat, Te Tāiko, we have experienced many adverse weather events in New Zealand in the span of 18 months. There have been so many of these events that we haven’t filmed all of them. We have spent a lot of time hiding from strong winds, storms, and bad weather. We've experienced up to 60 knots of wind in an anchorage and up to 50 knots plus in the marina. Little did we know that the worst was yet to come. We had just gone through a squash zone (the bit between a high and a low pressure system) when Adam noticed the possibility of a cyclone forming in the tropics. This cyclone was soon called Cyclone Gabrielle. We now had some decisions to make and prepare Tāiko and us for Cyclone Gabrielle. What we didn’t expect was the devastating impact Gabrielle was going to have on our home town of Hawke’s Bay and the East Coast of New Zealand. After seeing the devastation caused to Hawke's Bay, emotionally this was a very hard video for us to put together and we hope you can see the love we have for the East Coast of New Zealand. We're working really hard to make sure all our videos have subtitles and are currently working through our previous videos. However, the good news is this one has subtitles! We hope you enjoy it! As always, thanks for watching. Sincere thanks to Charlotte Rockstar Jones for composing and recording Te Tāiko's theme song. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment - it helps us out! After a few years of studying and working hard we decided it was time to make a change. We needed a change that would allow us to spend more time together, give us a better work/life balance, and the freedom to travel. While we still had time on our side, we wanted to use it to live rather than use it to chase money. Learning to sail was the answer. In December 2021 we moved onboard Te Tāiko, a Chico40, and since then we have been so fortunate to explore many of New Zealand’s pest free islands and its beautiful anchorages. With our love of travel and adventure, this lifestyle has enabled us to experience so much more than we could ever have imagined. From new experiences to meeting incredible people along the way, our life has been enriched in so many ways and makes us ever so more appreciative of our environment and the footprint we leave behind. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this new lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills exploring New Zealand waters. #boatlife #boat #travelvlog #digitalnomad #lifestyle #sailing #travel
