We are still sailing south. This time we end up in Sør-Arnøy, in a bay called Salmon Islands. A few decades ago this was a really unique place for the rich and wealthy. Now it has transformed back to a normal and very small fishing village. Sailing in Northern Norway is the number one activity for us, Marena and Roger Leivseth. We love our Argo, which is a German built Bavaria 31 Cruiser, 2008. Sailing is giving us rest, peace and energy. In these beautiful surroundings it is always a pleasure to take our beloved sailboat out for a cruise. We live up north in Norway, in Fauske, just north of the Arctic circle close to the Lofoten Islands. We experience the midnight sun during summers and polar nights during the winters. Our sailing season usually starts in the end of March due to the polar nights and temperatures way below freezing during winter. We normally end the sailing season in October for the same reasons. We are very fortunate to live in these surroundings with the love for sailing. The nearby areas are lovely places to visit, both fjords, archipelagos and islands in open sea. Access to Laoshan is easy as the mountain is located a short 20 km from the city center of Qingdao. We can hop on the 104 bus (1 RMB) and it takes us directly to the Laoshan Tourist Center where the buses depart for both Jufeng and Taiqing all day long. Make sure you sit on the right side of the bus as the bus route to Taiqing is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous with endless ocean views! If you get off at the first bus stop, you can access the path we took up the canyon! We were pleasantly surprised by the many attractions along the path including waterfalls, fruit trees, temples, tea fields, vegetable patches, pagodas, caves, and incredible panoramas. This is a hike not to be missed, but it's not for the faint of heart. The path is steep, but accessible as it is all well maintained stairs. It's a good idea to read up on Taoism prior to hiking so you have a better understanding of what you are experiencing especially when you finish at the Taiqing Palace Taoism Temple. Well, we have to fix our exhaust leaks and rattles caused by some claps we bought on Amazon. We were using the EVIL ENERGY clamp which worked pretty well but after 2 years just didn't hold up. We went back with some simple clamps, everything is shown below and they worked great. We did have to do a little welding because of a larger gap on the Total Flow Muffler when using the Walker pipe. My son loved it when he first got it because he could learn and it is very easy to use. Now after going to school for welding and using industrial equipment, he would like to upgrade, but that is on his dime. For me, this weld does everything I would need for quick small jobs. If I had to work with thicker metal, would just pull out the arch welder and start melting metal. The TotalFlow Muffler I think has a great sound for a very budget price. They have a very large selection so you can easily find the right sound for your ride. Now on the size of their pipe for the exhaust, our 2 1/4 pipe seemed a little big. Maybe they sent me the wrong size in the box, but we made it work. Just a little cutting and welding and the exhaust leaks were gone.
