► Although the Cape Town–based shipyard Voyage Yachts has produced several models such as the 480 and 580, since 2020 its range had been reduced to the very comfortable Voyage 590, whose build quality we were able to see firsthand at the yard three years ago. ► Since last July, a more compact model, the 510, has completed the range offered by this bluewater cruising specialist. Our correspondent Jonathan was able to discover this offshore catamaran, which benefits from high freeboard and well-designed aft circulation, including dock access through a cut-out in the bulwarks and lowered side decks. ► “The 510 is first and foremost a catamaran designed to accommodate a large number of people on board in well-assumed comfort,” Jonathan reports. “At nearly 16 meters long and close to 8 meters wide, this new model offers a very pleasant living space. Die Straßen sind extrem schlecht, das australische Englisch ist extrem schwierig zu verstehen und die Natur ist extrem – in jeder Beziehung. Immer wieder lodern Buschfeuer auf und Straßen sind gesperrt. Solange keine Siedlungen gefährdet sind, werden die Feuer jedoch nicht bekämpft. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben passte als in meins. In den folgenden 6 Monaten hat Brigitta aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich über unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Insgesamt sind wir aktuell 4 ½ Jahre unterwegs. Ein Abenteuer folgt dem nächsten und wir genießen jeden Tag aufs Neue.
