Sein Vater und sein Onkel sind gerade in Belize City, um den Fang der letzten Woche zu verkaufen. Ungefähr 800 Stück wie er stolz erzählt. Abgerechnet wird jedoch nach Gewicht und da ein Lobster im Schnitt ein Pfund wiegt, sind 800 Pfund auch ungefähr 800 Tiere. Die noch lebenden Tiere werden insbesondere in die Vereinigten Staaten aber auch nach Süd-Korea und nach Spanien exportiert. Rodrigo zeigt uns das Camp und erzählt vom Hurrikan Lisa, der alles vollkommen zerstört hat. Lisa kam mitten in der Lobstersaison, die vom Anfang Juli bis Ende April dauert. Ein großer Verlust für Rodrigo und seine Familie, die eigentlich in Sarteneja unweit dem mexikanischen Chetumal lebt. Rodrigo möchte uns seine Welt zeigen und lädt uns zu einer Bootstour ein. Wir fahren auf die andere Seite der Insel durch kleine Wasserwege in versteckte Lagoonen. Die Hoffnung Krokodile und Manatees zu sehen, erfüllt sich zwar nicht, wir beobachten jedoch Kormorane und Pelikane. Endlich verstehen wir, was die überall im Wasser steckenden Äste bedeuten. A catamaran configuration is indeed where the manufacturer placing their bets! The M8 should have been called the M58, but Prestige's management preferred to emphasize the “monohull equivalent comfort”, in the same way that Fountaine Pajot did with their MY range. The M8 intends to offer features comparable to those of an 80-foot monohull yacht. Looking at the very first 3D views and the specifications presented, this will indeed be the case: the total living space extends over 2,900 square feet (270 m²), including 540 sq ft (50 m²) for the flybridge, 510 sq ft (47.5 m²) for the nacelle, 345 sq ft (32 m²) for the aft cockpit, and 320 sq ft (30 m²) for the forward owner's cabin, which occupies all the available width... A great deal of effort has also gone into the design, the materials used, and the quality of finish, such as the access to the flybridge from inside, surrounded by glass to avoid breaking the view, the bar between the two aft openings and the hydraulic platform that can be used as a terrace at the same level as the cockpit. While the M8 isn’t a semi-custom powercat, various options, such as having the galley down, will allow this new model to be personalized. The shipyard is also taking a step towards respecting the environment with a Silent Yacht option: a lithium battery bank combined with solar panels will allow the crew to spend the night aboard without having to resort to running the generator. The M8's low fuel consumption is also worthy of note (at least at slow speeds) as the twin 600 HP Volvo D8s require only 5¼ US gallons (20 liters) per hour at 8 knots. Like the M48, the maximum speed remains modest, at 20 knots. The Swiss Cat 45 is handcrafted in a small yard in the south of France where only a few semi-custom cats are built each year. The hulls and deck are constructed in glass/epoxy over foam core sandwich; bulkheads and chainplates are carbon. There are very few yards in Europe today that build cruising boats to such a high standard using combinations of epoxy and carbon. This puts the Swiss Cat 45 in a quality class of its own that its peers simply cannot match. The epoxy build confers the necessary stiffness to the hulls and platform to get the most from the carbon mast, high-tech sails and deck hardware. All of this translates into performance underway and longevity. The carbon mast and boom are by Southern Spars, the standing rigging is Kevlar. The running rigging is Spectra and she has a full suit of sails including main, staysail, genoa and gennaker. Tali is an owner version with a 3 cabin and 2 head layout. She has had three owners and has never chartered. The quality of construction carries over to the interior finishes - Wenge floors, corian countertops, lacquered cabinets and alcantara fabrics. The cabinets and furniture are built at the factory. This is no IKEA finish nor ready-made, subcontracted modules that are found in so many production cats today. Rispetto al 2022, ho un anno di più e, se possibile, anche qualche acciacco di salute in più. Sono arrivato a Salerno navigando da solo a bordo della mia piccole, dolce Horus e ce l'abbiamo fatta senza eccessivi problemi. Ma rispetto allo scorso anno, ho sentito più forte la stanchezza. Navigare non risollce i problemi, ma aiuta a poensare ad altro, a pensare a cose più belle. Per esempio, doppiano Capo Palinuro, è inevitabile confrontarsi con la storia e con la mitologia. E passando debitamente al largo da Punta Licosa, ci si ricorda che a mare la prudenza non è un optional. Poi, all'arrivo ai pontili della Lega Navale, un bagno di affetto con amici che mi vogliono bene e che lo scvorso anno mi hanno salvato la vita. Letteralmente.

Hier an der Meerenge zur Nachbarinsel treffen sich die jungen Leute und genießen das Leben. Wir natürlich mittendrin. Leider ändert sich über Nacht das Wetter. Es wird stürmisch und Regen peitscht durch die Luft. Die Nächte werden anstrengend, da ich mich von der Sorge, dass MariaNoa sich bei drehenden Winden losreißt, einfach nicht befreien kann. Es ist der 1. Juli. Die Conchesaison endet und die Lobstersaison beginnt. Jeder will Lobster essen. Wo auf einmal die vielen Lobster herkommen, ist mir ein Rätsel. Für kleines Geld kaufen wir am Straßenrand zwei Mittagessen mit Lobster, Reis und Salat. Einfach köstlich. Der Lobster ist so frisch und schmackhaft, wie ich ihn noch nie gegessen habe. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März 2021 von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Seit vielen Jahren war eine Weltumsegelung mein (Hannes) großer Traum, den ich berufsbedingt zum Renteneintrittsalter verwirklichen wollte. Manchmal kommt das Leben aber anders als man plant. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Plan International ist ein internationales Kinderhilfswerk. Auf unserer Reise wollen wir nicht nur in Traumbuchten chillen sondern Programmländer von Plan besuchen und die dortige Arbeit dokumentieren.
