Fiona wirkt sich auf Curacao so aus, dass nahezu windstille Tage herrschen, die ich nutze, um wieder einmal ins Rigg zu gehen. Inzwischen habe ich meinen Spaß daran. Diesmal gibt es zwei Jobs zu erledigen. Erstens muss wieder einmal die Führungsschiene der Mastrutscher gefettet werden. Und zweitens will ich eine Umlenkrolle im Masttop befestigen, durch die eine Sorgeleine geführt werden soll, mit der bei Bedarf eine Kette aus Landesflaggen der Länder gehisst werden, die wir inzwischen besucht haben. Die Kette ist inzwischen so lang, dass die Dirk kaum ausreicht. Sobald die normalen Winde aus Osten wieder hergestellt sind, wollen wir nach Aruba weiterziehen. Dort erwarten wir erneut Besuch. Um bei Immigration und Custom auszuklarieren, machen wir uns auf den weiten Weg per Dingy, Bus und einem mühsamen Spaziergang. Busfahren auf Curacao ist spottbillig. Wir bezahlen pro Strecke und pro Person zwei Antillen Gulden. Das entspricht ungefähr einem Euro. Bon Dia. Papiamentu ist mit Abstand die meistgesprochene Sprache auf Curaçao. Während bei uns in Aruba der Wind abhandenkommt, trifft Hurrikan Ian nach verheerenden Verwüstungen in Kuba auf Florida, um hier im negativsten Sinne Geschichte zu machen. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen? In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. BORKUMRIFF IV, built by Royal Huisman in the Netherlands in 2002, bears the exterior profile of a classic schooner, a look that will make every sailor’s heart beat a little faster. She was delivered by a shipyard that is widely regarded as one of the greatest for large luxury sailing yachts. Built for worldwide cruising, this fast and seaworthy yacht embodies the golden age of yachting. She has only ever been used privately and has been maintained to the highest standards. Reminiscent of the Newfoundland schooners used to hunt huge cod off the coast of north America, the yacht measures 50.58 metres in length (including her bowsprit) and has a sail area of 1,164 square metres across her two masts. Commissioned by an experienced owner who united a shipyard and design team that represent some of the most important names in classic sailing yachts, she boasts exterior lines coming from the design office of American schooner specialist, John G. Alde. Her naval architecture was managed by Dutch design house, Dykstra, whose award--winning modern replicas are icons of the sailing superyacht fleet.  The interior was designed by John Munford and features custom furniture and wood panelling in highly polished mahogany, contrasting with the light-coloured ceilings and floors in a way that is pleasing to the eye, makes a nod to tradition, and ensures sufficient brightness. The interior layout features a saloon and interior dining space on the main deck, and the accommodation on the lower deck.  The full-beam master suite is to aft and benefits from a separate study, and there are two guest cabins (configured as twins) midship.  All the accommodation is en suite.  There’s separate accommodation for the crew in generously proportioned cabins, and a sizeable ship’s galley. Segeln und damit Ankern auf Curacao ist schwierig. Wir wagen es trotzdem und segeln in 5 Tagen einmal um die gesamte Insel. Von Spanish Water geht es über Klein Curacao nach Santa Cruz, nach Santa Martha und zurück in unsere Anchorage nach Spanish Water. Hierbei werden wir nachts von einem Coastguard-Helikopter kontrolliert. Mit dem A-Aruba und dem B-Bonaire liegen die niederländischen Antillen unweit der venezolanischen Küste. Während sich Venezuela in den letzten Jahren aufgrund hoher Kriminalität für uns Segler zur No-Go-Area entwickelte, dienen die ABC-Inseln als Zufluchtsort während der jährlichen Hurrikan Saison. Der Tourismus spielt auch auf Curacao eine wichtige Rolle. Dennoch sind wir Segler ziemlich unerwünscht. In vier ausgewiesenen Ankerfeldern im Spaanse Water liegen die Schiffe zusammengepfercht vor Anker, ein freies Ankern ist im restlichen Land ist untersagt. Für vier ausgewiesene Ankermöglichkeiten ist jeweils ein Anchor Permit einzuholen. Somit sieht man eigentlich nie Segelschiffe in Bewegung – wie schade. Wir wagen es trotzdem, haben beim die notwendigen Anker-Permits gekauft und segeln mit Freunden einmal um Curacao. Die erste Etappe führt uns gegen die vorherrschenden Winde ca. 25 Meilen nach Klein Curacao. Hier liegen wir drei Nächte an einer Mooringboje, erobern die Sehenswürdigkeiten, erleben herrliche sundowner am Strand und starten direkt vom Schiff zu verschiedenen Schnorchel- und Tauchausflügen. Join us in this tour of 'Brainwave'. Sailing the 473 is very easy with dual wheel steering, excellent visibility and a fuss free cockpit with all lines leading aft. The mid boom sheeting system means the traveller is in front of the dodger and all the hard work is avoided by using a powered winch. This is powered by a Volvo 55hp diesel inboard and accompanied by a side power bow thruster. Both mainsail and genoa were upgraded to high performance dacron sails in 2016 and a new feathering prop and shaft in 2021. Stepping below, one is immediately struck by the volume. A major attraction of the Oceanis 473 is the large owner's cabin with queen island bed and separate ensuite. Both the saloon and cockpit have lots of room to sit around the table and the L-shaped galley is functional and spacious. Die Luken werden geöffnet, frischer Wind streicht die Schiffskörper. Alles scheint in Ordnung zu sein, kein Schimmel zumindest auf den ersten Blick. Die Gefäße mit hygroskopischem Granulat sind zum Teil leer, in den Auffangschalen befindet sich Wasser.
