Eine Orientierung ist nicht mehr möglich. Erst spät am Abend nimmt der Wind deutlich ab. Es ist noch einmal alles gut gegangen. Der Anker hat gehalten. Wir sind unter Zeitdruck, wir müssen nach Miami. Um 05:00 Uhr gehen wir Anker auf, es ist noch stockfinster. Wir erbitten über Kanal 9 die Öffnung der SE 17`th Street Bridge für 05:30 Uhr. Der Öffnungsvorgang muss vom Brückenwärter abgebrochen werden – die Brücke ist durch das Unwetter beschädigt und lässt sich nicht öffnen. Erst um 08:00 Uhr dürfen wir die halb geöffnete Brücke passieren. Vollgas nach Miami. 5 ½ Stunden später machen wir in der Dinner Key Marina an Mooring 92 fest. Kurz aufklaren, einchecken, Mietwagen übernehmen, Einkaufen und ab zum Flughafen Miami. Glücklicherweise kommt unser Besuch nicht am Flughafen Fort Lauderdale an. Working with large angle-grinders is grueling and we appreciate their hard work. Our propane tank was designed to be on its side, which is convenient for storage just aft of the cabin house. David begins mocking up a deck box that will act both as storage for needful things and, when ranging farther and living aboard, it will be just the right size for holding a spare, full propane tank, and the empty one when we switch it out. Propane is our main cooking fuel. Ross applies a satisfying first coat of oil on the deck after meticulously taking care of scraping and repairing the pitch alongside George. Yes, we're aware that our guests are not wearing PPE of certain sorts.
