This Edel 43 is a uniquely versatile craft that can serve as a comfortable private cruising cat, as it does for its current owners, or makes a fantastic day charter cat. It was recently outfitted by a professional boatbuilder who has owned several sailing cats. She is loaded with clever upgrades and specked to run on solar and alternator power. It is ICW friendly and accommodates up to 6 passengers in 3 cabins. A fourth cabin is a workshop. There are two galleys on the boat: one on deck and another below. Some of the highlights include: recent twin Volvo 30 HP engines with only 350 hours, 2 galleys, full hard top bimini that covers the entire cockpit, dual steering stations, solar panels, new chart plotter, sound system and VHF. Over the many years I have been restoring my 1982 Lancer 30 foot sailboat I have come up with many unique modifications that you will find interesting and amusing.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 was elected "European Yacht of the Year" at the BOOT boat show in Duesseldorf. So of course I was interested to make a walkthrough video of the boat. Unfortunately there was a big crowd who wanted to see the boat also, so there was little space for filming. I therefore put some photos as well. My personal impression was, that the 440 does show some interesting innovations on deck, like the easy access of the sidedeck from the helm. We have a similar approach on our VOLT yacht project, so you don't have to climb over the cockpit benches. However, the interior layout of the 440 did not convince me. I was missing a real concept for the boat layout. And the build quality could be better for a Jeanneau. So I had a mixed impression. Some good ideas, but not the level of innovation that I would have expected.

The Viko S30 is a small cruiser from the Polish Viko yard and offers an excellent value for money. The boat is simple and not a bluewater cruiser, but fits very well for cruising on lakes or for pure holiday sailing.

The Princess 55 is the first motoryacht in the Princess model range with a new design. It offers a huge salon with large windows - which is nice for the amazing view you will have from the boat, but will also make an air condition mandatory in hot climate. The build quality is outstanding and will satisfy even the most demanding owner. The price starts at app. 1 million Euros ($1.2M).

Nautor's Swan was showing their building process at BOOT boat show in Duesseldorf. For each new model, an exact mockup is build, so the owner can have a detailed view of the interior layout and dimensions. Each boat is highly customizable. This video shows the mockup of the new Swan 65.

The Solaris 68 is the flagship of the Solaris range of yachts. It's design and the clean deck layout reminds me of a Wally.

The Galeon 640 is an elegant yacht from the Polish Galeon yard, making yachts from 300 up to 780 feet. The interior design is very typical for Polish yards and might look a bit heavy compared to Western yards. However, the quality is very good and the price is reasonable.

The Steeler 52 is build in Aluminium and shows a very different design from the traditional yachts from Holland. It is very seaworthy and offers a lot of comfort for the owner.

The Amel 50 is one of the finest bluewater yachts you can buy. The yard is well known for their experience to build high quality yachts, among them the legendary "Super Maramu".

The Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 42 is a very innovative yacht in a reasonable size for a crew of just 2. The interior is very luxurios and of highest quality standards. The price is starting at 380.000 Euros app. an offers a good value for money.

The Oyster 745 ist an amazing yacht. It offers the highest quality standards and a seaworthy layout. The yacht is highly customizable, so the final price of such boat really depends on the wishes of the client. But a price around 4 million Euros (app. $4.8M) is realistic.

It’s the third and final week of our 3,000-mile transatlantic crossing aboard the Bluewater 50 catamaran, “Zao” sailing from the Canary Islands to St. Lucia in the Caribbean. In this episode, the crew starts having fun fishing, Paul does a boat review, Alexandra bakes more amazing desserts and we monohullers perfect downwind sailing on a cat. Just days before landfall in St. Lucia, we learn that there has been a man-overboard on a boat sailing ahead of us and we start watch for him and his now deserted boat.
