Yep… we literally cut the back off our aluminum sailing catamaran 😅 As part of our major refit, we extended the sugarscoops — rebuilding the sterns completely from 4mm 5083 aluminum. The flat sheets were then pressed for the perfect shape, and welded back on — inside MIG welded and outside TIG welded. We couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! This van can only hold about 11 gallons of fuel in its tank, which is why we brought 2 spare cans. I thought finding diesel would be more of an issue, but there were enough fuel stations to never even need the emergency stash.
