Yep… we literally cut the back off our aluminum sailing catamaran 😅 As part of our major refit, we extended the sugarscoops — rebuilding the sterns completely from 4mm 5083 aluminum. The flat sheets were then pressed for the perfect shape, and welded back on — inside MIG welded and outside TIG welded. We couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! The best way to ensure the tails of your rope stay neat and tidy is to whip the ends. If you want to take your finish to the next level then take the time too added a loop to the end of the rope. In addition to stopping the end of the rope from fraying it gives your halyards the added benefit of having a built in mousing loop that allows you to easier replacing or remove your halyards for the winter with a mousing line.
