Our new cruising yacht Viator Explorer 42 DS has 2x10KW electric motors as propulsion. Those motors can be used as hydrogenerators when sailing. We are testing this feature in this short video. The maximum output is about 21A, which equals about 1KW. But it is still very volatile, so we have to optimize the regeneration process. With the topping lift stuck at the top of the mast and and the spare halyard need for a kit peel the only option was to go up the mast and get it. Our bowman who is never one to do things by half decided the stop off for a quick pole walk on the way down to reconnect and grab the spare halyard had the team on Redline Racing back in the game.
