Our new cruising yacht Viator Explorer 42 DS has 2x10KW electric motors as propulsion. Those motors can be used as hydrogenerators when sailing. We are testing this feature in this short video. The maximum output is about 21A, which equals about 1KW. But it is still very volatile, so we have to optimize the regeneration process. They hired a Venturer 38 power cat and cruised around the islands, going wherever they wanted to go, which the kids loved. They went snorkelling lots, went kayaking and paddle boarding, did lots of walks around the islands, and even played cards and other games, like they hadn't done as a family in years.
