Our new cruising yacht Viator Explorer 42 DS has 2x10KW electric motors as propulsion. Those motors can be used as hydrogenerators when sailing. We are testing this feature in this short video. The maximum output is about 21A, which equals about 1KW. But it is still very volatile, so we have to optimize the regeneration process. Meeting face to face with a green turtle always makes the dive and this is a fantastic site for meeting these chill turtle dudes. The Shallow Wrecks of Butler Bay, St Croix is a fascinating wreck dive for all skill levels and features: a NorthSea Trawler (Suffolk Maid); a tugboat (Northwind); a massive oil barge (Virgin Islander); NOAA’s HydroLab (Aegir), which was decommissioned in 1985; and the remains of several Hess Oil Trucks. With it’s wheelhouse starting at 20′, The Northwind Tugboat was used in the TV movie “Dreams of Gold — The Mel Fisher Story” and is a photographer’s favorite.
