Yesterday turquoise meant danger under the keel. Today the danger was the sky. We left San Blas under a wall of rain, ran a thrill ride of squalls and following seas into Linton Bay — then the next morning pointed at San Andrés. 27 hours. About 9 knots average. Surfing past 10 when the ocean picked Sophisticated Lady up and threw us forward. Jib reefed to a handkerchief. Spilling the main the whole trip. And we still couldn't slow down. That CopperCoat bottom was so slippery and clean that when I tried to put the brakes on… there weren't any. We arrived before lunch — home water, where Ricci was born almost five years ago.
