Triple Jack’s Resilient Comeback After Hurricane Irma

Embarking on a remarkable journey of resilience and renewal, Triple Jack, the iconic one-off trimaran, has made a triumphant return to ocean racing in the RORC Caribbean 600. This achievement comes 39 years after her last major race, the Ostar in 1984, and marks a significant milestone in her storied history. In 2017, Hurricane Irma dealt a severe blow to Triple Jack, leaving her in ruins – upside down on a bridge, with her rigging lost and her structure severely damaged. However, what followed was a testament to dedication and passion. Over five years, at Nanny Cay Marina, countless hours were invested in painstakingly rebuilding and remodelling her. This labour of love involved extensive work, from structural repairs to aesthetic refinements, ensuring she not only returned to her former glory but also became equipped with modern safety and racing features. The team, a group of Corinthian sailors from the Virgin Islands, has not only restored a piece of sailing history but also made their mark by being the first team from their region to enter this race in its 15-year history. Their participation and success in the Caribbean Multihull Challenge and the BVI Spring Regatta, where they tested and proved the effectiveness of the repairs, were just the beginning of this new chapter. Now, as Triple Jack sails again, she embodies the spirit of offshore racing and the unyielding resilience of her crew and supporters. #Caribbean600 #TripleJack #OceanRacing #RORCracing #Sailing #Yachting #Irma #HurricaneIrma #Hurricane #Caribbean #Trimaran #Yacht
