Can a simple rubber snubber really make a difference when anchoring a yacht? In J-Log 190, Jenny looks at the benefits of adding a rubber mooring compensator to our anchor snubber and why such a small piece of equipment can make life at anchor noticeably more comfortable. When a yacht is anchored in stronger winds or a choppy sea, the movement of the boat can create sudden shock loads through the anchor snubber and chain. Adding a rubber snubber provides extra elasticity, helping absorb some of those loads before they are transferred to the boat and anchoring system.
