Join author David Gendell as he introduces his new non-fiction book “The Last Days of the Schooner America.” “The Last Days of the Schooner America” details the colorful, checkered career of the iconic 1851 schooner, namesake of the America’s Cup. The schooner’s story is set against the fast focused rise of the Annapolis Yacht Yard as the facility is transformed into a World War 2 production juggernaut that produces more than 100 wooden warships for the United States Navy and its World War 2 allies. To bring this story to life, Annapolis sailor David Gendell delved into archival sources and oral histories and interviewed some of the last living people who saw America at the Annapolis Yacht Yard.
