This week’s guest yacht is a relative newcomer to the performance cruiser space from the highly experienced Comar yard. The C-Cat 48! Comar has been an internationally known brand since 1971: the shipyard based at Fiumiccino shipyard, west of Rome, on the banks of the Tiber, has produced thousands of great monohulls with a well established reputation for quality. In 1998, when Massimo Guardigli took over Comar, things started to look up for the yard and they began offering a range of custom-built monohulls alongside their production boats. As the monohull market became more and more competitive and the demand for multihulls grew, Massimo and his team decided to reorient the entire shipyard towards a new brand: C-Catamarans. Today we are going to 1. Review its specifications, pricing and layout against three similar new vessels…you may be surprised by the price and performance 2. Do a full tour asking, “What would Sylvia say?” …there is a lot for her to like 3. Naval Gaze at an innovation and/or adjustment that might make life aboard easier (Hint...have you ever forgotten to close the hatch at night when it starts to rain? ) 4. Have a look at the used market for 3-5 year old comparables 5. And finally give it a “Dave Score” and compare the result with all our previously reviewed yachts. Our wine pairing with our yacht of choice this week is from the same area; Tenuta Di Arceno Il Fauno Di Arcanum Red Blend. Tenuta di Arceno is an ancient Tuscan estate with a diverse portfolio of the highest quality wines across two classification levels – three wines centered on the native Sangiovese grape in the Chianti Classico DOCG collection; and three wines celebrating the estate’s international varieties under the Toscana IGT designation. The estate is situated at the southernmost-edge of Chianti Classico in the butterfly-shaped commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, closest in proximity to Siena and rightfully referred to as ‘the most Senese Chianti Classico.’ It’s home to other world-renowned producers and stylistically distinct from counterparts to the north. 94 POINTS - Decanter, A.F., April 2021 Facts about the wine Winery Arceno Grapes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot Region Italy / Toscana Wine style Tuscan Red Alcohol content 14% Allergens Contains sulfites Innovation Corner • C-Cat 48 Web page: https://www.c-catamarans.com/?lang=en • Electric Hatches with remote: https://www.lencomarine.com/en/p/20760-001/Lenco-Electric-Hch-Lift-12-Volt o 12-Volt with 2' (61 cm) leads and deutsch connectors. o Inline motor design delivers over 500 lbs. of force. He began to develop a distinct style stemming from impressions of life, nature, and the Mediterranean, impressions which abstractly reflect themselves in the purely vivid and passionate colors of his work. Simbari's originality and commercial appeal brought his art to exhibitions in London and New York by the 1950s, solidifying his international reputation. Nicola Simbari is considered by many to be Italy's most important modern artist. Using stunning colors and favoring brilliant tones, he paints with a palette knife and achieves great depth with this technique. Simbari's paintings are full of light and energy.
