Free Boat Inspection - Deck Core

In this episode, we start inspecting Dagmar, our free sailboat project, and one of the first big questions is hiding right under our feet: is the deck core rotten? A free boat can be an amazing opportunity, but it can also be a floating invoice with sails, so before we get too excited, we’re checking the deck for soft spots, hidden rot, delamination, moisture damage, and the usual problems that come with older fiberglass sailboats. Using the classic hammer test, we listen for changes in the deck core and look for early signs of trouble before making bigger decisions about the boat.
