Sailing the iconic Rustler 42 – What's the secret behind this British beauty?

Chris Beeson puts the Rustler 42 through her paces and provides a comprehensive walk-through tour. Designed in 1996/97 by Stephen Jones as a larger alternative to the Rustler 36, the Rustler 42 was launched in 1999. Even today, this British-built yacht features qualities rarely found on production yachts. She boasts a fully bespoke, handcrafted interior. A long fin keel moulded as part of the hull, creating an encapsulated keel with the ballast inside the yacht. This design requires no bolts or fastenings. A full-length skeg protects the rudder. The engine isn't located in the aft cabin, so occupants aren't disturbed by noise or vibration; instead, it's positioned above the keel, where tankage is also situated, helping to keep heavy items low and central for better stability. It has a cutter rig, offering smaller, more manageable sails that can be gradually reduced in area. All these features and more contribute to the Rustler 42's enviable reputation as a true bluewater yacht, capable of cruising the world. Why is she still being built after 26 years?
