Rookie Mistake, We Screwed It Up Good! Ep. 19

We are so excited to finally be starting our sailing adventure to the Bahamas! We covered the truck and sailing canoe with tarps to prevent anyone from messing with our stuff while we are away before leaving the Riverside Marina in Fort Pierce, Florida. We have only anchored all night once before in Coos Bay, Oregon, just to see what it was like. Randall didn't sleep much that night, but Turtle did great! So this is technically our second time anchoring, but our first time on our trip. We found a nice spot next to a sandy beach the night before leaving and decided if other boats were anchored there, it must be a good spot! ....little did we know it wouldn't be. We also used our Katadyn PowerSurvivor 40E Water Maker for the first time! It was working great at first, then we noticed it started making a strange sound and was spraying water into the v-birth, getting everything wet! Randall took it all apart, but couldn't find anything wrong with it. 💦 Broken Water maker Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V-NArLolJg&t=71s During the night we woke up because the boat felt like it was ridding weird on the anchor rode. We soon found that the rode had wrapped the keel during slack tide and now the tide was going out at 2 knots! It was quite the ordeal to figure out how to get the boat free, but we managed.
