Boatbuilding can be a slow and tedious (yet rewarding!) process. As with many things in life, patience is a useful skill. In this episode, we work on making up more short beams out of the scrap locust we have. This involves sorting through what we have, cutting them out, planing them and cutting the carlin joints on the end. While Steve works on that, Alix takes on fitting Victorias knees that he restored previously. This involves patterns and some slow but satisfying fitting work. As we continue working on the deck structure, we have the interior in mind. Kitting out the interior and starting to figure out Arabella's systems is going to be a pricey endeavor and to help bolster the funds to get Arabella the best she deserves, we are unveiling another limited edition Acorn to Arabella t-shirt. Our friend Scott Ouderkirk from the channel Glass Goat (The Wooden Boat Experience), came to draw Arabella from above with her deck structure in place. If you would like a shirt showing off this beautiful illustration, you can order oner here! http://www.bonfire.com/acorn-to-arabella-winter-2020 Scott Ouderkirk from the channel GLASS GOAT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu02y4RfEyiHqjTCaYpeq4w Thank you all for the support! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interesting in supporting/helping here are a few ways: Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Recurring support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
