Off the Beaten Path, Sailing Down East Maine in the Fall (Calico Skies Sailing, Ep 77)

In this episode we decide to throw caution to the wind and sail to the very north eastern tip of Maine, right at the Canadian border. Its late September and we should be heading south but adventure calls! Exploring Cross Island is a real treat. The island shows the rugged side of Maine and also it's incredible beauty. Our first hike we wind up going off trail and wind up bush whacking through dense foliage. We enjoy exploring the old life saving station which later became an Outward Bound camp. Being the end of September we had to wait awhile for a day of good weather at Cross Island but when the sun came out we were in awe of the scenery. We were boat bound in the cold and foggy weather, we used the time to cook chicken soup onboard Calico Skies. After exploring Cross Island we start the trek west arriving to Great Wass Island. Another cozy anchorage with great protection. We may be starting the trip back south but the adventure isn't over. We face quite a few challenges in the coming weeks including being towed by Delos and suffer an injury as sea.
