There’s always work to be done on a wooden boat, but the cooler temperatures have prevented some of this work from getting done outside. During a window where the weather is finally decent, Steve spends some time tackling projects that need to get done on deck—including rigging the reefing system and downhauls for the main and mizzen sails. The main sail of Arabella has three reefs. A reef essentially shortens the sail, so on days when the wind is strong, the sail area can quickly be reduced. Steve works on finding the permanent solution for this system. Meanwhile, Akiva embraces the new season with a rare nap down below. Now that it’s officially spring, hopefully the warmer weather provides more opportunities for adventure.
