Lugger first motor from mooring in huge waves!!

This is the first sail from and back to my new mooring and the weather was not my friend today!!! I'm still waiting for a few essential parts from Drascombe before I can rig and sail the boat properly, so with the outboard on, we go for a motor about in some of the biggest waves i've seen on Lake Bala. Winds were 22-25mph with 30mph gusts, but later in the day rose to 40mph gusts. I have to say my Lugger coped admirably with the weather, even though for me it was quite a rough day. It was so lumpy today that I actually get sea sick whilst trying to put the rain cover on the boat, a first for me since learning to sail!! I also bite the bullet and swim back to shore at the end of the day which was very "bracing" to say the least!!! Hope you enjoy the weather!! 00:00 On the mooring 02:00 Getting off the mooring 02:50 Removing the Mizzen 05:15 Motoring into the waves 07:41 Look at the gusts! 08:13 Waves are building 08:42 Taking a break anchoring! 12:50 Back into the high seas! 17:33 Rounding bouy 6 - Beam on 18:05 Adrift & working out the centreboard! 23:28 More big waves 23:48 Running back to the mooring 25:27 Back on the mooring 26:25 Getting seasick! 26:56 Swimming to shore 29:25 Thank-you!!
