Launching Turtle Ep. 17
Turtle is finally swimming in Atlantic Water! We are so excited to be done with our cross country drive and to finally be launching our boat in the warm tropical water of the Florida Coast! We have waited so long for this day to come!...and we bet YOU HAVE TOO!! Randall designed a system that allows us to raise and lower the mast on our boat by ourselves. We have been doing this for the past 5 years and are very confident and comfortable with doing it without the help of a crane. We have however always had the help of Randall's Dad and Brother to raise the mast, so this was one of the few times we have done it, just the two of us. We were able to get the mast up in 15mph winds and in about an hr. from start to finish. A NEW RECORD TIME! We have always launched our boat yourselves in years past, but we weren't able to find a facility in Florida with a deep enough ramp for our 5' keel draw. This is the first time letting other people have full control of our boat during the launching process and using a travel-lift to launch the boat. It was crazy weird to see Turtle lifted off of the trailer and begin swaying in the slings high above the ground! The launch was very simple and didn't take too long to have done. There were plenty of people there to help catch lines and keep us from bumping into the wall. We were told by the Riverside Marina management that they would be taking a boat out of the water once we were in and that we could use the vacant slip for the next couple of days. We waited all day in the launching area for a boat to come to be taken out of the water, but a boat never came! We then realized that had been forgotten about and that we had no where to go! Two boats were launched nearly on top us while we were there in limbo land...or should I say limbo water. We felt very much in the way with no where to go. We spent the night there and in the morning someone came to tell us a slip was now available for us to use, but that will be in the next video! We hope that we can inspire other to do what they love to do, no matter what it is. We had a rough start getting to where we are now, but it has made us stronger! Don't give up on your dreams even when they feel like they are giving up on you. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT! You just have to put in the hard work and keep a positive outlook. ********************************************************************** THANK YOU for watching our videos and for SUBSCRIBING to our YouTube channel!
