We sailed into Recife, Brazil just in time for the last day of Carnival. After a long passage, we weren't prepared to party quite as hard as the Brazilians but we still had a great time. The best was yet to come though, as our friend Hans, who is a pilot in Recife, offered to take us on a couple of maneuvers. We had to climb up the side of the container ships and got to watch from the bridge as he maneuvered one ship out to sea and then brought the second one into port. It was absolutely amazing. The rest of our time in Brazil was primarily spent on boat projects for Starry Horizons. Our after passage checks revealed problems with our forestay/furler and a rip in a sail. There wasn't a lot of marine services available, but with Hans' help and a little bit of a 'let's just figure it out' spirit, we managed to get everything done. Thanks for watching!
