How to Tie a Button Knot

The button knot is a great knot to finish your soft shackles, with tail of the knots looping back through the knot it allows you to pull the ends through the main shackle lines. This effectively doubles the strength of the shackle at the highest load area which is just below the knot as you have four rope thicknesses rather than 2 which you get with other knots (for ins. The Button Knot takes up more line than the Diamond knot but is worth if for the additional strength that you get. While the Botton Knot is a little harder to master than other soft shackle knots it is well worth the effort to learn. Make sure that you tighten the knot on it self making the ball as tight as possible, tighter you can make the ball the stronger your shackle will be.
