How To Load a Boat on a Trailer at the Launch Ramp | BoatUS

Coming back from a day out on the water with friends? Here's how to load your boat on a trailer when you have assistance. BoatUS Magazine senior editor Rich Armstrong walks you through the steps to retrieve your trailer boat and put it on the trailer safely and easily. After backing the trailer down the ramp, the handler should walk the boat over onto the trailer and center it, and then someone should connect the winch strap to the eye hook on the bow and crank it in tight. As the boat comes out of the water, the handle should keep it under control. Add the safety chain, then remove the drain plug. Reattach all tiedowns and plug in the trailer lights and ensure they're working.
