GET WHEELBARROW BOAT PLANS & KITS HERE: www.offcenterharbor.com/wheelbarrow-boat-more-info-genyt Marine Designer Judy Huxtable and Boatbuilder Eric Pomber introduce our new series on building a plywood wheelbarrow boat designed by Harry Bryan. This new 16-part video series showing every step of how this boat comes together is underway now and will be available to all Off Center Harbor members. OCH members also have access to several other epoxy/plywood boatbuilding series, plus other video series on selecting tools, how to use epoxy, etc. totaling over 100 videos. The Wheelbarrow Boat series was filmed as the boat was built in a living room over a couple of weekends. Kit purchasers get early access to the entire series. The plans and kit for this boat are available now! www.offcenterharbor.com/wheelbarrow-boat-more-info-genyt ABOUT THE DESIGNERS & THE BOAT’S INTENDED PURPOSE: Harry Bryan is a legendary designer and builder within the field of wooden boats. He has over five decades of experience designing and building practical & beautiful boats (in an off-grid shop in New Brunswick, Canada). With the extreme 25-foot tides in the Bay of Fundy, Harry designed this ingenious Wheelbarrow Boat so he could roll his dinghy hundreds of yards across rocky terrain to the water’s edge. This design benefits from nearly two decades of revisions from Harry’s active use of his boat. We hired marine designer Judy Huxtable to work with Harry to revise his plans into a CNC-cut kit that is easy and fast to build, even for a first time boat builder with no experience. The first three novice builders all said it took only 25 hours to build their boats. Every wood part comes in the kit. Every edge of every piece is pre-beveled to the correct angle and so builders can simply join and epoxy the parts. Pre-drilled pilot holes, and scribes enable builders to line up each piece with certainty, eliminating confusion and uncertainty. TIME/SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED & MATERIALS AVAILABLE: The estimated time to build this boat is approximately 25 hours (approximately two weekends), and this boat can be built by anyone with very limited woodworking skills. Note: While it is possible to build this boat from the plans alone, it is designed to be MUCH easier and to build from the kit, saving you substantial time (and perhaps money as well). PARTICULARS: LOA: 7 ft 10 in BEAM: 4 ft DRAFT: 6 in HULL TYPE: Pram TOTAL WEIGHT: Approximately 75 pounds ROLLING WEIGHT: Approximately 25 total pounds spread across two handles/oars OAR LENGTH: 6-½ ft CONSTRUCTION: Epoxy-plywood SUITABLE FOR: Somewhat protected waters TRAILERABLE: Yes, or fits in the back of smaller pickups and larger SUVs SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED: Beginner with limited woodworking experience (w/ kit) LOFTING REQUIRED: None with the kit. Without the kit, shapes/sizes of parts are drawn out. The plans and kit for this boat are available now! www.offcenterharbor.com/wheelbarrow-boat-more-info-genyt
