How NOT to Pick Up a Mooring Buoy

Solo sailing isn’t always smooth seas and heroic moments… and this trip proved it. I sailed out to Green Island and quickly learned just how tricky it can be to pick up a mooring buoy alone when the wind and current decide to argue with each other. After a few ego‑bruising attempts (and a couple of expletives), I finally got it sorted with some help — and walked away with some solid lessons for next time. From there, I headed out to Arlington Reef, anchored in a beautiful little lagoon, and speared myself a fresh feed of coral trout and crayfish.
