Faith Reef - The Best Reef We've Found So Far? (Ep.78) | Sailing ARGO

After a quick stop in Airlie Beach, we set our sights on the outer reefs of the Great Barrier Reef, chasing a forecast of calm weather and crystal-clear water. We overnighted at Nelly Bay near Gloucester Island, made an unexpected detour into Bowen for an emergency cat food run for Meeshka, then continued north to Cape Upstart before launching out to the reef. What happened next exceeded all expectations. We decided to push a little further out to Faith Reef and were rewarded with some of the most spectacular conditions we've experienced on our sailing journey. Glassy turquoise water, incredible visibility, beautiful coral gardens and an abundance of marine life make this a stop we'll never forget. Jason stepped up his spearfishing game and finally ticked a Painted Rock Lobster off the bucket list, while Kym landed the biggest fish of her life – a delicious Shark Mackerel. Along the way we snorkelled amongst vibrant coral, dodged curious reef sharks, paddleboarded across crystal-clear water and enjoyed a few of the coconuts we collected from Middle Percy Island. Experiences like this remind us just how extraordinary the Great Barrier Reef really is and why we keep coming back.
