Episode 45 - Weekend Excursion to the Little Choptank

A nice weather window opened up on a weekend where Toni and I did not have any previous commitments. It did not take us long to pack some provisions and head to "Moments in Time". We slipped the lines in the early morning and sailed north into the Chesapeake Bay heading for the Little Choptank River on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The 18-knot gusts blew "Moments in Time" almost to our final destination until the winds took the rest of the day off and quit. We motored further up the Little Choptank River and set the anchor in a secluded bay just off Cherry Island that is fed from Phillips and Beckwith Creeks. We kicked back with a sun downer and a cool breeze before cooking a nice steak dinner. The breezes in the setting sun blew our stress away and the peace and quiet soon lulled us to sleep under a starry sky. We woke the next morning in blustery conditions with 25+ knot gusts. We put two reefs into the main and had an exhilarating sail back to Solomons, sometimes reaching speeds of 9+ knots, and, in a blink of an eye, we were safely secured in our slip wondering how fast time had passed. Good thing we made our Moments in Time. Subscribe and share the adventure!
